Music, summer safety activities, mile and half-mile fun runs help focus attention on healthy families, lifestyles and personal fitness as hundreds of adults and children participate

Jackson, Miss. (May 26, 2012) – C Spire Wireless, the only wireless provider in the U.S. that offers personalized services, joined forces with the Mississippi Children’s Museum and Southern Farm Bureau Casualty today to sponsor a summer festival to celebrate healthy families and personal fitness.

The 2nd annual C Spire Summer Soaker and Fun Run attracted several hundred families, adults and children for music, summer safety activities and a mile and half-mile fun run on the museum grounds. Performers from the world-famous Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey also provided entertainment at the event.

“It’s a great way to kick off the summer season and to focus attention on the importance of getting fit and encouraging families to make healthy decisions,” said Jim Richmond, director of Corporate Communications for C Spire Wireless. “Our company and our private, non-profit C Spire Foundation support projects, programs and partnerships that create opportunities, make connections and address community needs like health and wellness.”

With the emphasis on family fun and safety, representatives from Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital performed children’s car seat safety checks, distributed free bicycle helmets and brochures and other educational literature on sun safety. The Museum’s newly redesigned splash-pad also was turned on during the program so participants could enjoy some fun water-related activities.

“This is our second year to host this family-focused event and we really appreciate the opportunity to partner with two great companies like C Spire Wireless and Southern Farm Bureau Casualty in educating families about the importance of healthy lifestyles in a fun, enjoyable atmosphere,” said Anne Jordan Brantley, marketing coordinator for the Mississippi Children’s Museum. Brantley said all participants received a t-shirt, water bottle, tote bag and free admission to the museum.
