Alabama, Ole Miss and Mississippi State SEC football road games will be broadcast live on a giant-sized jumbotron in front of Tupelo City Hall in Fairpark
Tupelo, Miss. (September 30, 2015) – Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Alabama, all ranked among the nation’s top 25 college football teams, are going on the road this weekend to play important Southeastern Conference (SEC) league games.
Football fans in North Mississippi who don’t make the road trip with their favorite teams will still be able to watch the televised games on a giant-sized jumbotron screen and tailgate with friends and family as part of the C Spire Pigskins in the Park presented by BancorpSouth event on Saturday, Oct. 3 in front of Tupelo City Hall in Fairpark.
The event is free and open to the public and it’s shaping up to be the ultimate tailgate party in North Mississippi. In fact, the annual event is the official watch party for both Ole Miss and Mississippi State alum in North Mississippi.
Fans are invited to begin setting up their tents and chairs at noon in Fairpark. At 2:30 pm, the Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Georgia Bulldogs game will broadcast live on the giant jumbotron. The live broadcast of the Ole Miss Rebels road game in Gainesville against the Florida Gators begins at 6 p.m. and the Mississippi State Bulldogs’ game in College Station against the Texas A&M Aggies starts at 6:30 p.m.
The games will be shown on a giant 22 foot by 33 foot jumbotron screen, which is elevated 16 feet from the ground bringing the total height to more than six stories with high-resolution images for both daylight and night time viewing.
C Spire Pigskins in the Park presented by BancorpSouth activities will include:
- C Spire will sponsor a “Show Your True Colors” tailgate contest for the most elaborate tent décor and costumes for Ole Miss and Mississippi State fans. The top winner for each school will receive an iPad Mini. The winner will be announced from the stage during halftime for each game.
- Fans may begin setting up their tailgate area at noon and are allowed to bring lawn chairs, tents and tailgating items, but personal grills and coolers are discouraged.
- Food and beverages will be available for purchase from various downtown Tupelo food vendors and businesses during the games.
- No alcoholic beverages other than those sold on site will be allowed at the event. Beer will be sold to individuals who are 21 or older.
The event is title sponsored by C Spire and presented by BancorpSouth in partnership with the City of Tupelo, the Tupelo Quality of Life Committee, Mitchell Distributing, Coca-Cola, Miss 98, Comcast and Papa V’s. Downtown Tupelo Main Street Association (DTMSA) is the organizer of the event and will receive the sponsorship proceeds.
