RIDGELAND, Miss. (May 29, 2024) – C Spire, a diversified telecommunications and technology services company, is committed to keeping its communities and customers connected during the upcoming 2024 Atlantic hurricane season.
The hurricane season begins June 1 and runs through Nov. 30. The outlook from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) predicts an above-normal season with 17-25 named storms. Of those, 8-13 are forecast to become hurricanes (winds of 74 mph or higher), including 4 to 7 major hurricanes (category 3, 4, or 5, with winds of 111 mph or higher).
In anticipation of the hurricane season, C Spire proactively strengthens its extensive networks, regularly reviews and updates its emergency preparedness and crisis communications plans, and conducts readiness drills throughout the year to assess the readiness of its network and workforce.

C Spire has a dedicated network experience center charged with monitoring weather events and organizing disaster recovery preparations, including hardening measures for data centers and network facilities, continuous monitoring of network performance, and post-incident analysis. In addition, C Spire uses backup batteries and generators at mobile sites, switch facilities, and data centers for redundancy.
